Balls Head Reserve Walk

Join us for our final walk of 2024 before the Christmas season begins! We’ll meet at Waverton Train Station and walk to the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability (CLCS). For directions, refer to Google Maps. If you prefer to drive, you can park near CLCS and join the group at 10:15am. Free street parking is available on Sundays.

We’ll start with a brief visit to CLCS, then follow the Harbour View Track to take in the stunning views of Sydney Harbour, along with its vibrant native flora and fauna. You can learn more about the area’s rich history and wildlife by reading some information here.

One of the highlights of our walk will be a short stroll through the iconic Coal Loader Tunnel, a great chance to reflect on the phrase, “There’s light at the end of the tunnel!” After this immersive journey into Australia’s past, we’ll return to CLCS for a relaxing lunch accompanied by live music.

Length: approximately 2.5 km return (mostly flat, some steps)
Time: approximately 1 hr (excluding lunch), depending on how long people want to take photos.

Rating: Level 2

This group will leave at 10:05 am (the latest). If you are late, follow Google Maps to Coal Loader Centre of Sustainability to catch-up with the group.

I enjoy being close to Nature and exploring the flora and fauna on my path. I have been a bushwalk leader with the Sydney Bushwalks and Getaways Meetup Group for a little while until COVID-19 hit Sydney. I’m revisiting the bush with CFS members and our Circle of Friends.
