Rail2River Walk through Ferndale ParkHidden behind suburban streets, Ferndale Park provides a
bush backyard for local residents. The walk along the
fern filled Swaines Creek reveals a quieter, more serene and peaceful part of Chatswood.
Track length: Approximately a 4 km return trip.
Track grade: Easy to medium – on unsealed bush tracks with
steep steps in sections. Grade 2. Sturdy shoes are required.

ANZAC Day Two-Creek Track (easy session)
Walk A We will start at the corner of Slade Avenue and Tryon Road, East Lindfield. The track ends at Roseville Bridge but we will continue our way to Echo Point Park for a picnic.
Length: 6m one way.
Track Grade: Grade 3.
Time: approximately 2 hr. 30 min. (excluding lunch)
Walk B (Self-guided) An easier Grad 2 option is to start from Echo Park (near the end of Babbage Rd, Roseville Chase) and walk along the easy session of the Two-Creek Track and then return to Echo Park for a picnic lunch.
Length: 2.5m one way. 5 km return.
Track Grade: Grade 2.
Time: approximately 2 hr. 30 min. (excluding lunch)
Both walks will stroll pass a historical site related to WWI. The track ‘flows’ along Gordon and Moores creeks with interesting flora and fauna. Test your knowledge for those who attended last month previous walks with CFS. This walk crosses a section of Garigal National Park. There are some great water views, sandstone caves.
If you are coming by public transport, please use Google Maps to find a suitable route. Feel free to contact Bibi if you need some assistance.
Suggestions for lunch: Picnic at Echo Point Park. Bring your own sandwiches and snack to share. CFS will provide ANZAC biscuits and fruit.

Flat Rock Gully Track It is a medium walk with some deep descends and a steep climb at the end. The scenery along the track is fabulous! Some interesting sites are Henry Lawson Cave, Aboriginal Painting, best Meditation spot in town, Long Gully Bridge (Northbridge) and the Walter Burley Griffin Incinerator (now a Cafe & Gallery). Create a group sculpture with natural materials picked up along the track.
Length: 5 km one way.
Track grade: Grade 2 – 3. Some steep descend and climb at either end of the track.
Time: 2 hr 30 min. (including 30 min for photo and creative stops)

Bay Walk (Bay Run) in Drummoyne This track will cover Iron Cove, Henley Marine Drive, Drummoyne, Rodd Point and Five Dock. Just follow the wide footpath around the mangrove-lined foreshores of Iron Cove. Along the way, indulge in the variety of splendid sceneries from city landscapes to luscious greenery. Take time to read the interpretive signs that provide interesting facts about the types of flora and fauna in the surrounding bay.

Bradleys Head to Cliffton Gardens to Balmoral Beach Sydney Coastal WalkThis coastal path is part of the Sydney Harbour National Park with very scenic view of the beautiful harbour. At Bradley Head, you can see the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the then Centrepoint Tower (Westfield Tower) – Sydney’s most famous icons – in all their glory. Watch the boats glide by from Bradleys Head – Booraghee Amphitheatre Come face-to-face with wildlife and ancient trees. There are picnic tables at Cliffton Gardens for a relaxing morning tea. Keen hikers may continue to walk to Balmoral Beach to view an important Aboriginal site. Others may exit at Cliffton Gardens (bus routes to City or Taronga Zoo).

Freshwater Beach to North Curl Curl Beach We will meet at the end of Ocean View Rd (opposite the car park) in Freshwater (used to be called Harbord). This coastal walk from Freshwater Beach to South Curl Curl Beach is very scenic with blue sky and big waves along a rocky coastline between the 2 beaches. You will see from a distance the full view of Sydney’s famous Manly Beach. With some luck, you may find sea creatures enjoying the swimming in rock pools created by the last high tide. Take off your shoes and take a mindfulness walk on the sand from South Curl Curl Life Saving Club to North Curl Curl Beach! Embrace Nature and boost your mental well-being.

We’ll meet at the end of Fidden’s Wharf Rd which is the pedestrian entrance to Lane Cove National Park. Follow the steps to descend to an oval and then turn right to the start of the track. This track will take us to the famous Lane Cove River. There are many wild animals which called this park home. You may have close encounters of wallabies, brush turkeys, kookaburras, ducks and wild rabbits. There are many picnic tables under the shade for visitors to the park to enjoy their food while observing the magic found in Nature. There is a historical site which reveals the lives of early settlers in the area. We will retrace our footpath and back to Fidden’s Wharf Rd.

Balls Head Reserve Walk Join us for our final walk of 2024 before the Christmas season begins! We’ll meet at Waverton Train Station and walk to the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability (CLCS). For directions, refer to Google Maps. If you prefer to drive, you can park near CLCS and join the group at 10:15am. Free street parking is available on Sundays.
