CFS Bushwalk of the Month is an initiative to promote both mental and physical health. Members are free, $5 optional donation for non-members. Walks will be led by Bibi and members of the CFS Youth Action Group.

Harold Reid Foreshore Track
An easy-medium Nature walk exploring the flora and fauna along the track. Play a game of ‘Find that FLOWER/PLANT!’
Suggestions for lunch:
High St Bakery & Cafe at Willoughby near the track or
Cafes/Restaurant in Chatswood

ANZAC Day – Flat Rock Gully Track It is a medium walk with some deep descends and a steep climb at the end. The scenery along the track is fabulous! Some interesting sites are Henry Lawson Cave, Aboriginal Painting, best Meditation spot in town, Long Gully Bridge (Northbridge) and the Walter Burley Griffin Incinerator (now a Cafe & Gallery). Create a group sculpture with natural materials picked up along the track.

Length: 5 km one way.
Time: 2 hr 30 min. (including 30 min for photo and creative stops)

Suggestions for lunch:
Picnic at Tunks Park
Incinerator Art Cafe (Cnr of Willoughby Rd and Small St) or
Little Giant Roaster Cafes (Cnr of Willoughby Rd and Frenc’s Rd)

Two-Creek Track A medium walk (with some steep climb) on this well-signed post Two-Creek. We will check out a historical site related to WWI. The track ‘flows’ along Gordon and Moores creeks with interesting flora and fauna. Test your knowledge for those who attended last month’s Nature Walk. We may have a picnic at Echo Point Park. This walk crosses a section of Garigal National Park. There are some great water views, sandstone caves.
We can take the bus back to Chatswood after the walk.

Length: 6.1m one way.
Elevation: 231 m
Time: 2 hr. 30 min. (excluding lunch)

Cafes/Restaurants at Chatswood.

Rail2River Walk through Ferndale ParkHidden behind suburban streets, Ferndale Park provides a
bush backyard for local residents. The walk along the
fern filled Swaines Creek reveals a quieter, more serene and peaceful part of Chatswood.

Track length: Approximately a 4 km return trip.
Track grade: Easy to medium – on unsealed bush tracks with
steep steps in sections. Sturdy shoes are required.

Bay Walk (Bay Run) in Drummoyne This track will cover Iron Cove, Henley Marine Drive, Drummoyne, Rodd Point and Five Dock. Just follow the wide footpath around the mangrove-lined foreshores of Iron Cove. Along the way, indulge in the variety of splendid sceneries from city landscapes to luscious greenery. Take time to read the interpretive signs that provide interesting facts about the types of flora and fauna in the surrounding bay.

Track grade: Easy (flat) Comfortable walking shoes recommended.

Bradleys Head to Cliffton Gardens Sydney Coastal WalkThis coastal path is part of the Sydney Harbour National Park with very scenic view of the beautiful harbour. At Bradley Head, you can see the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the then Centrepoint Tower (Westfield Tower) – Sydney’s most famous icons – in all their glory. Watch the boats glide by from Bradleys Head – Booraghee Amphitheatre Come face-to-face with wildlife and ancient trees. There are picnic tables at Cliffton Gardens for a relaxing morning tea.

Two-Creek Track (easy session)
We will start from Echo Park (near the end of Babbage Rd, Roseville Chase) and walk along the easy session of the Two-Creek Track and then return to Echo Park for a picnic lunch. Test your knowledge for those who attended last month previous walks with CFS. This walk crosses a section of Garigal National Park. There are some great water views, sandstone caves.

Freshwater Beach to North Curl Curl Beach We will meet at the end of Ocean View Rd (opposite the car park) in Freshwater (used to be called Harbord). This coastal walk from Freshwater Beach to South Curl Curl Beach is very scenic with blue sky and big waves along a rocky coastline between the 2 beaches. You will see from a distance the full view of Sydney’s famous Manly Beach. With some luck, you may find sea creatures enjoying the swimming in rock pools created by the last high tide. Take off your shoes and take a mindfulness walk on the sand from South Curl Curl Life Saving Club to North Curl Curl Beach! Embrace Nature and boost your mental well-being.

Time: 2hr. 30 min. (excluding lunch)

Custom House to Mrs Mcquarie’s Chair via Syndey Botanical Garden Last walk for 2023 before everyone gets ready for Christmas. We will meet at the historic Custome House and then walk up the Moore Stairs (opened in 1868) to the North Gate of the Sydney Royal Botanical Garden. (SRBG) We’ll head to the Calyx to admire the flora in the surroundings. After snapping a few photos, we continue to the famous Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair. The view at this spot is magnificent! Many tourists from around the world show off their selfies sitting in Mrs Mcquarie’s Chair. We will keep an eye on floral & fauna that call SRBG home. The group will head back to Circular Quay for lunch.

Length: approximately 4 km in total
Time: 2 hr (excluding lunch), depending on how long people want to take photos.
