This month’s Laughter Yoga class was affected by sickness, with small classes due to flu and COVID-19. However, the small class size brought a sense of intimacy. On May 28, we had three participants spanning three generations: Marchella (a CFS member and co-leader), her mum Shirley, and her grandma Fong-Che. Shirley had to leave early, so we began with the Grounding Dance, which Marchella loved during our last class.
Following the rhythm and chanting “HoHo-HaHa,” we warmed up quickly. I then invited Marchella to demonstrate some laughter yoga moves she learned in co-leader training. The interaction between Marchella and her grandma was heartwarming. Next, we each shared a happy event. Fong-Che shared about a music concert she attended and hummed “Do-Re-Mi” from “The Sound of Music”. We sang along with the original actions, repeating it twice with much fun. Marchella planned to watch the movie with her grandma.
We then shared unpleasant experiences. I briefly mentioned family conflicts and likened myself to peanut butter in a sandwich. We mimed spreading peanut butter, which helped dissolve my anger. We ended with the Grounding Dance again to help Fong-Che remember the moves. Marchella took a selfie video with her grandma. The class fostered family bonding, which is the greatest reward. Join us at the next Laughter Yoga class!
